I’d like to introduce myself. I am Ruthann Proue and I have been the School Counselor here at McDonell High School for the last four years and am very excited to continue in my position. Along with a Master's Degree in School Counseling, I bring 17 years of experience from the public school setting. The first seven years I worked with students in grades 4 through 8, followed by 10 years of working with students in grades 7 through 12.
I look forward to working with you during your time here at McDonell High School. This will be done by providing standards from a comprehensive school counseling program that helps support academic, career, personal-social and spiritual development. My plan is to work together in a variety of settings such as one-on-one conversations, small group discussions and classroom lessons. Students will create short-term and long-term goals regarding future opportunities. The end result is for our young adults to become contributing members of our school family and the outside community; all the while maintaining their personal relationship with God.
I look forward to meeting each of you. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. During the summer, I am available via email.
Thank you kindly. May God's light shine on you.

School Counselor Assistant Message
I am so excited to be a new member of the McDonell Family! I look forward to working with each of you as we navigate this new normal together. While I am not yet a school counselor, I have past experience working with teens through a summer program, with incoming college students and college freshmen at UW-Eau Claire, and with children with autism, cerebral palsy, and brain and spinal cord injuries.
In my role as the school counseling assistant, I plan to work to the best of my ability to best serve McDonell/Notre Dame students in the guidance area under the direction of Mrs. Proue. I am excited to bring my previous experiences and learned strategies to the McDonell/Notre Dame community as I get to know each of you over the course of the school year. I’ve had the most welcoming experience as a new staff member and am happy to belong to this family moving forward. Feel free to reach out via email or phone with any questions you may have. Until then, have a lovely day!
