Mary S. King has taught in the Catholic School system in Chippewa Falls for 45 years as an elementary teacher at Holy Ghost and an English teacher at McDonell High. She is a native of Chippewa Falls and has a long history with the Catholic school system. Her mother was a 1942 graduate of McDonell and her two aunts were 1947 and 1950 graduates. Mary is also an alumni, graduating in 1969. Following in her footsteps is her son, who is a 2009 graduate and her daughter-in-law who is a 2010 graduate. Mary has been recognized in Who’s Who in American Education and has received the local Excellence in Teaching Award. She has been influential in promoting students to express themselves through writing. Many of her former students have received awards for their poetry, and various other works have been published in anthologies. In her spare time she enjoys gardening, collecting antiques, and spending time with family and friends.
